What we need to do is get everyone to think like a farmer. Or at least know the basics of planting a garden.

Too much practical knowledge is being lost by the average person.

While not so much an issue around here other places if they lost the supermarket people wouldn't know what to do.

Agree w/ mythravere AND w/ the editorial.

Nothing like raising your own food. Picking at the optimum time makes a difference you wouldn't believe for some foods; you'll never get that in a supermarket & you're fortunate if you can get it in a farmers' market. (Still, you have to be realistic about the time & money you put into it -- may save you money compared to supermarket, may not.)

Raising food to sell requires even more study, but we need a lot more of it around here.
