First of all Blabbermouth kitty 628,Sandy took office in Jan 2009. Chris was hired in Apr 2009. He went to the academy in 2009. Sheriff Merrit was not in office when Chris was hired. Do the math!! Obviously you never saw the tattoo on Chris's arm. Chris is and always will be a credit to the Sheriff's Office. PS: If you live in the city, and your house should catch fire, the same person you are "trash talking" may very well be the same person saving your house, family members or pets!!!

wildcitykitty628 if you can't discuss an issue without calling names and ranting... how am I to know your point stands for anything except just that... ranting and venting anger. I do think maybe you have wool over your eyes... my name is "littlebig" not littlesmall. Ergo my deduction that if you can't get a written name correct... then your facts are questionable too.

If everyone is so worried about a truck for a man who does go out on patrol in the county... then shouldn't they be worried about the the ex- sheriff Sandy who spent tax payers money to send a deputy to the training academy, only to fire him later? If he knew it was illegal to hire him and he did it any way, then sent him to the academy how is that different than a credit card. I myself feel Sandy owes the county the money for that little trick back, after all Ken had to pay for the credit card and he didn't even use it. The money for the truck was brought to light honestly not done behind anyone's back. He does need a truck for alot of the roads in this county, and the weather we have. He knows this because he knows this county like the back of his hand, he has always been someone who doesn't feel that he is above working with his men.

Joe,it's not a "gang" thing with him,he just knows that Merritt won't have the wool pulled over his eyes by some simpering fool, such as himself. What I'm for lack of understanding,is why it's such a big stink NOW? Commish not reading the fine print anymore, just saying "approved" and look at it later? If so,no wonder every half baked organization is going before them with their hand out. With 32 grand,he at least ought to get an F-250 with heavy frame and running gears.

No, the main problem with the holding center started with Greiner and him thinking it could be ran with 15 officers, some of who should never have had the job, it failed. He forgot call offs and sicknesses, and just straight-up lazy officers. His administrator was a terrible leader! Steve Stephens is a whole lot better leader.

LOL oh it just doesn't get any better than this.
The Sheriff position in Wood county has been so corrupt for so long its just automatic that the new sheriff will be just as corrupt.

First of all usually in the State a PO has to be made and they decided what he is spending money on then the PO gets approved once they have done their research. Once PO gets approved then Sherriff gets money, not sign off get money then think about it. He obviously knows what he is doing and it's wrong he know's it, I would think a car would be so much better, because of his leg and it would be cost effective something like an AWD vehicle. They have SUB's and 4WD if they need to go back in the woods. Seriously? This just show's how small town we really are.

He asked for approval - what else would you have him do? Its not like he will keep the truck when his term is over - it will remain in the sheriffs dept. I think some people who nah nah nahed about Sandy winning now have their panties all in a bunch.

Untill you cry babies put you life on the line every day, just shut up. What do you want the Sheriff to do,walk to every crime scene! One other thing, Belmont the $27,000 truck has to outfitted usable as a work truck for the sheriff. Most of you people, the Sandy lovers get over it.The county sent him packing back to where ever he came from.Ken is a strong man and will do the job.

What I was trying to explain is that I see no problem with what the sheriff is doing. It is not like he had already purchase the truck without telling anyone. Gee you people really need to have an open mind

keerock: Holding Center and deputies are two separate items. Holding Center has their own budget to operate from. They have had problems with personnel at the holding center ever since Sandy was elected. The main problem was Sandy,

It's no wonder why alternative candidates don't seek office around here. Largely thankless and being a punching bag isn't exactly appealing.

OK wait, so he had to go to the Commission and get the OK, and they OK'd it... but now suddenly it's an issue. In my opinion, the Commission looks worse than Merritt over this. If it's so horrible that he requested a new vehicle, the Commission should have stopped it in the first place. Haters and supporters of Merritt are making him the focus when it's the Commission that could have stopped this if it needed stopped.
