mythravere, what a load of uninformed misinformation. All religion does not require unquestioning blind following. Require extreme hubris? I do not think that word means what you think it means. You realize the whole flat earth theory is largely a myth that was perpetuated by the American public education system, it was NOT widely held by the majority of theologians and is contrary to what is taught in the Judeo-Christian scripture. Your disdain of people of faith seems to have clouded your own ability to reason and see truth.

I think it is wise for him to resign if he is in doubt about his physical well-being. He heads a 1 billion+ organization...it's not easy.

"In vast areas of the world today, there is a strange forgetfulness of God"

Religion requires that the believer doesn't question anything about the religion.

It also requires extreme hubris of its subjects.

It should be no surprise that in an age of increasing knowledge of our real place in the universe that people stop being believers.

Flat earth theory died out and so will religion in its current form.
