I have friends who are teachers and they get a raise every year. Other state employees with sinilar education and experience are asked ti do more with less staff every year, yet have not had a raise in over five years because we do not have a union. This is a disgrace. The state ghas been in the black several years and we deserve a decent cost of living raise. And by the way every teacher yteachinmg a soecial needs child should have ipe input and acces to assistance as needed. This is not the case. Many teachers have never seen the plan. That systtem needs change and i am glad it came to light.

Here's an even better idea! Start charging prisoners for being in prison. When their time is up they don't get out till their tab is paid in full.

Thanks to all the parents of special needs kids who have insisted they be in the same schools as kids without special needs-so they won't feel different-but will be treated differently-as in better-than other kids-all the money to retrain teachers and meet their other demands has to come from somewhere? When they made these demands I guess they didn't realize that when you take from one person to fulfill the needs of another-the person you took from will have to do without. Thanks Beth Dean!

Some of your points are worth having a discussion about..but removing sports programs should not be an option...maybe at the middle school level..have the local pee-wee programs take over..but high school sports should be is about getting an eduction, which, like in life, is not all about the books, it is about being a well rounded human being and learning other intangibles such as team work, excercise, etc. which all help keep people healthy in other aspects of life.

I have a few obvious suggestions. First, where the education budget is concerned, do away with all high school and middle school football, basket ball and baseball teams and activities. This will save school budgets thousands of dollars and reinforce what high school is supposedto be about-getting an education. Also set up an alternate GED program. Not all kids are the same and would do better in a non traditional program-especially those who plan to join the military. And remind kids in high school that the military is an option to get the security they will not get working at Walmart. Also, start drug testing welfare people, drop those who flunk, force those who realistically can work to work. Take away the free ride to college welfare people get. If they want an education they can work for it. As for prisons-bring back chain gangs and stop programsand scholarships that give convicts a free ride to college. If they want an education-let them work for it too.
