Yes indeed, nothing can replace the memory of going with my parents to Gustke's Department Store. It saddens me that this time in American history is no more.

The Memory Mall was always a thrill! My wife and I stopped by whenever we had a chance. Always had a thrill hearing the latest jazz Mrs. Gustke had to share. Whether we bought anything or not, she had a kind word and a smile. She was a rare specimen, no doubt about it!

I'm 53. I remember my parents taking me to Gustke's "five and dime" to pick out a present for my 5th birthday. There were toys, knick knacks and just about anything a kid could want. It was the most wonderful shop in the world in the eyes of a little girl. No kid ever felt that way in a Walmart. Thank you Mrs. Gustke.
