St. Joe's is not in that bad of condition! They just want you to think that so that people won't go there. It is not falling apart, yes, it could use some new equipment, but then again so couldn't CCMH. It is not in deplorable condition, there is great potential if someone were to actually care.

Firebuggger... Take this from someone that really knows, that "best 100 hospitals" was bought. You can buy any title, if you know the requirements and your paperwork is worked to that direction. This is not just a SJ thing, many hosptials "buy" a rating. Look it up, don't take my word for it.

Hey mejustme... Get over it. Take a walk about the SJ facility then put the blame where it belongs.. on the previous owner!!! You sound like a broken record that needs smashed to bits. If you know so much, if you work there, take a walk about the place then shut up! Don't just go to the one floor, or the ED or Open Heart... look at the whole thing, from the basement to the roof that leaks like a flood. Point your anger at HCA and the other two owners, espcially the latest ones. If Camden had not bought us, we would have been closed by the state... Get a grip and get some reality in your views....

Good Lord folks, do you think that the VA would even consider buying buildings that are in such horrible condition? Whoever thinks this, I have a bridge I will sell you!!!! It would be much cheaper (if they were even thinking of it), to build a new building. I think the people of the MOV needs to take a walk through of the SJ facility. It is in deplorable condition. Not the fault of the employees, but you can blame everyone since the sisters, starting with HCA that has owned it. All of them, expecially this last bunch of yahoo's from Texas, simply took the money and ran. They did not do anything to fix the property, the did not buy new equipment, they have (or had) tons of broken stuff, and what was not broken, was leased. For God's sakes folks, no one can afford to fix those buildings and use them in any way that is health care related.

Well said Vahalla, there is a huge Veteran contingent in this area and we could benefit from a local true VA facility. Not mention how the area would benefit from the jobs that it would bring.

continued: in my company of 62 soldiers there were 4 of us from our tiny little hamlet. we deserve a full facility here in town. the money the VA would save in travel pay, the postage for mailing of perscriptions, ect. would almost pay for the building. i do not care that St. Joe's in not in the best of shape (have any of you seen the condition of the Louis A. Johnson center in Clarksburg its attrocious) the government pinheads need to remember their commitment to us and the promises made to us to provide the best care available, that we deserve and earned, and make this change happen. as you can tell i feel strongly about this im tired of my wife not being able to attend my doctors appointments because the VA van doesnt have room for her, she is my care provider and its essential to my well being she knows the info my doctor informs us of. WE VETERANS DESERVE BETTER!

it is extremely dissapointing the VA has decided the veterans in Parkersburg are not worthy of a full facility here. there are a great number of heroic veterans in our community, a number almost 10 times the national average of other towns in the US roughly the same size determined by population. there are a lot of veterans here that have been combat wounded, including myself that are forced to travel to Clarksburg and in some cases Pittsburg for our badly needed treatments, surgeries, etc. this is a hardship for a lot of us. it is extremely hard on my already compromised body due to my injuries to ride in a vehicle for long periods of time. when i was in the service i often encountered others serving valiently and with distinction that were right from our very patriotic little town. i was constantly amazed at the astronomical number of Parkersburgs native sons and daughters even in my own company.(i served in Delta company 1/8 Cav 1st Cavalry division)

mr. king stop your lies! you've been lying from the stop about this so called "merger". admit that you wanted to take the open heart from st joes! funny after the state would not give you the certificate of need for open heart at ccmh campus, you annouced the closure of st joes! i am a former st. joes er nurse..i left because i did not want to work for ccmh! and i know people complains about both er's, i listen to the complaints from people that left your er cause they got tired of the wait! you better double the size of your er and staff before you close st joes or you're making it worse for the people that lives in the area. MR. KING I WOULDN'T BRING MY DOG TO YOUR HOSPITAL!!!!

In another post I mentioned, educate yourself. All you have to do is google King and his previous hospital buys/nergers then sales. I find this statement very odd btw ".My good friend Mayor Newell nailed it a few weeks back when he said there was a very small group that he refers to as THE VOCAL MINORITY,as to which he just ignores." Actually you, forthebuttof posted that as your statement. Now, did Bob say it or did you? Could you be Bob? Possibly, I could care less. I only checked in to see how bad it has gotten. Count the crime articles in this edition only. Look at your homeless rate double. As long as you live outside of the city and don't pay the user fee, I don't know why you even care. I trully feel pity for your wife and children, alcohol ruins lives.

Am I mistaken but wasn't it just a couple of years ago that St' Joe was saying that it was rated as one of the top 100 Hospitals In the Country?

Nah, I'm still thinking the Saint Perk or Must Be Stupid to Enter is more likely. Or maybe a rehab center for the hoard of gambling victims.

I can tell you right now, the minute that CCMH is the only hospital left in the area the mortality rate will increase significantly.Guess what? St. Joseph's hospital (back when the Sister's owned it) was 100x the hospital Camden ever thought about being. And it still would be had CCMC not shut everything down, and whisked it away to the Memorial Campus. The reason Census is low is because they won't admit you there. They have total control of the census, so they can make it function to their benefit. Both ER's are usually full and beds used to be full at both locations, there is tons of empty beds at St. Joseph's for patients, but no, Camden doesn't like to admit people there. St. Joe's was one of the top 100 hospitals in the US in 2000, how do you shake a stick at that Camden?

That's because YOU have single handedly ruined these forums and turned it into a three-ring circus. You're just another cyber addict out here that the Webmaster here has done a woeful job in shutting you down and allowing this garbage to continue.

Camden Clark alone isn't a big enough hospital for this area. The parking lot at CC isn't even big enough to support itself!

"The vocal minority" ? You mean the same minority that rarely agrees with anything you spew? Practically anything that comes from you is diametrically opposed to common knowledge and sense. You're the extremist fraud here, quite hilarious actually.

Why is it always the same cast of characters posting silliness here? CCMH is not privately owned. Mike King can't directly make a penny off closing St. Joe's. Shouldn't you be on Facebook bullying 12 year-olds? The VA would be foolish to do anything with that seriously old hospital. The updates it needs would cost more than the value of the hospital. Bad business. It's really in a bad spot for any re-purposing without a major plan to restructure the existing properties surrounding it. That's a nice way of saying most of the properties surrounding it are junk that would bring any development down. That's kind of the story all over Parkersburg. Build something nice right next to a toilet property. Maybe someone in Zoning should get a clue?

I think coolbeans is on to something. I'm expecting at least one Casino proposal to float around. But then again, some type of correctional facility will follow closely as these are now are top industries.

101, I hate to tell you but a broken bone is not an emergency. They will xray, wrap it, and send you home and tell you to call a bone man and he will trll you to come to his office in two weeks. That's what happened when my wife broke her arm.

You would have to be blind to not see Mr. (used loosely) Kings plans. Buy up competition, consolidate, then resell it at enormous personal proffitt. Google him and see how many times he has done this before. Ask him where the B&O taxes went that he didn't pay. Then he tosses a small check and the mayor pretends he got the few funds and knew they were coming....go figure..you re-elected him after almost 8% population left the area in his first two terms. Bob's first step after he gets the state to give him home rule will be a city tax. Don't you pay enough already? I have no sympathy left in me, I didn't leave him in office.
