Can't show up and do the job, then step aside and let someone who wants to be there have it.

By the time Beth Dean and her herd of cattle are done, there won't be enough money to open the doors on any of it.

Run for Public Office. Claim to be interested and want to make a positive impact on their organization. And than don't have "time" to attend the meetings. Give us a break phone attendance is not physical attendance. Show up or resign. Parkersburg News find out what the Salary is for the BOE? Let the public know.

BOE members were elected KNOWING the job requirements. Shameful to suggest that phone attendance counts. When a person is on the phone and not physically present, how can one "read their faces" and SEE what they are saying non-verbally? Will BOE members still get paid? Wood County BOE members get $160.00 per meeting, regardless of the length of the meeting. Will attendance by phone still allow them to get a paycheck? Some serious questions for the Parkersburg News to ask. Looks like the Wood County BOE wants to go the way of the Wood County Commission. Cut the number of meetings, or better yet call in instead of being there. Just watch---it will pass--because those who want it are those who get to do the voting. What about We The People!! Ask the people what they would like. Sad state of affairs for a group who likes to micro-manage the schools and now they don't want to even come to the meetings. Remember this at the next election. VOTE them ALL OUT!!!

So, "rightfacts" what if the person is in the hospital, is traveling due to their job, or some other thing they cannot control? Obviously phone attendance is not physical attendance, but at least they could still participate with the changes.
