waste of money. find out how financially solvent washington pa team is? build an indoor convention center, not a baseball field which will be empty 90% of the time

I tend to agree with North about an indoor convention center being a better regional draw. But if we're going to build a baseball park we should get baseball-crazy Marietta involved. Their small college baseball team is multiple time national champions! Shouldn't that be part of a regional ballpark plan?

Let's require that any business or individual participating in this project must provide verification of being fully up-to-date on their payment of city taxes and fees.

A convention center would be usable even if it is raining. A ball field would be useless in the pouring rain for "other events". It is moot - soon we will all be too worried about paying taxes to go do anything fun.

hindsight I'm curios just what businesses would a ballpark in Parkersburg attract? More fast food joints or a gas station?..LOL

Oh yes, the infamous "snowball effect" Let's see, when they UNB built the 7 story building downtown it was going to revitalize downtown and bring it into the modern error - Never happened. The Blue Cross/Blue Shield building made the same claim - Never happened. And don't forget about the completion of Corridor D. We are still waiting for the economic boom on that one. This "build it and they will come" philosophy ended at the conclusion of the movie "Field of Dreams" Hopefully, the feasability study will show this one way or another.

Just another one of BOB'S pipe dreams. in the end it will be just like the up towner INN. You have to hve an econemy for business to prevail muchless want to move. The onlt way that will happen is to repeal all the nice restrictions that keep coming along from the feds. That won't happen either as it apears WV is the lapdog for DC. You see states all over using the 10th amendment and standing up to try and keep rights and business a float. Sadly not WV. I doubt I will ever come back as things appear WV will never stand for its citizen's as other states are doing now.

Joe,WHY do you waste your time? Arguing with a pathelogical liar is likened to wrestling with a snake pit. He's not Newell,Bob's not stupid enough to pin himself down like this clown has.

Spend it like you have it on the stadium venture, but who is going to clean the green corrosion from the plaque worshiping Bob Newell when it falls on it's ass?

Get rid of user fee before we give any money for anything. Business dont want to come to parkersburg because of taxes. More work for them for just 2.50 a week per employee

I AM NOT a liar. Just a person with a desperate need for attention and a desperate desire to be a part of something who worships the ground the mayor walks on.

Not that he had any credibility to begin with, but hindend101 lost whatever shred he may have had left when he suggested a vacant, money-sucking ballpark be used for a "wet Tshirt contest" during the summer. You have issues, particularly since it is you that loves to question others' morality and ethics so much on a public forum. You should seek professional help, as well as an English tutor.

Any association with that fruit loop hindend wouldn't be good PR for our mayor. I would hope that he wouldn't actually rub elbows with self-righteous, obsessive lunatics like that one. Wow.

For decades citizens have called for a venue where concerts and conventions could be held. A baseball diamond does not fit that bill. Baseball has failed time and time again in Parkersburg, this is a terrible idea and a money sink.

Bob Newell is a lot like Barack Obama, The Kardashians, and Honey-Boo-Boo: everyone claims to hate them, but the majority of the people LOVE them.

HA! hindend 101, if this idiotic idea goes through maybe Bob will help you get a job emptying the trash at the stadium for it's first and only season in business. People might go as a novelty, but this is a poor city. It could not be sustained for any length of time. People are not going to waste money amusing themselves at a venue that is set up, from the get go, for vultures to overcharge the plebes.
