Come on man you know what I mean by that PHS wrestling has had some down years where the talent wasn't as good as South. This is to not take any credit away from South by any means they have a great coaching staff that is well respected, but anyone with half a brain would prefer their Varsity wrestlers to be wrestling. This is no different and you know that, Coach Way wasn't taking a swipe at the JV kids but saying his wrestlers on Varsity should be able to win those matches easily. Seemed pretty simple no different than a senior 3 year starter in basketball sitting out during foul trouble and a freshman in that plays JV to try to hold the rope until the senior can get back in. Any opposing Coach is wanting to take advantage of that.

The "JV" kid that almost beat Trapper Hays won a tournament in Nitro the previous weekend against varsity competition.

@coachbear34....I am not ignorant and who said anything about not wanting your best wrestlers in a dual? Anyone with half a brain knows that. I do not even know where you got that idea....AS far as your comment " You can get away with it against schools like John Marshall, etc. Against traditional powers like PHS, Huntington you are wanting to have your best wrestlers in your duals" just a little FYI,

2009 West Virginia Duals January 30-31, 2009 Parkersburg, WV South B (PS2) 48 Parkersburg (P) 24

just one (of many) example of a JV team beating a "traditional powers" team.

Come on man ...they are JV for a reason and Varsity for a reason. You can get away with it against schools like John Marshall, etc. Against traditional powers like PHS, Huntington you are wanting to have your best wrestlers in your duals. Don't be ignorant.

@coachbear34..." when you have the opportunity to go against some JV opponets and you are at the varsity level you should be able to beat them"...are you serious? That is ridiculous. Do you know how many times JV kids beat varsity kids? Just because you are " varsity" for one school does NOT by any means mean you should be able to beat the "JV" kid. South is a perfect example of that, the JV team has on several occasions beat many schools varsity teams, including PHS a couple yrs back.

JV is JV, when you have the opportunity to go against some JV opponets and you are at the varsity level you should be able to beat them. Any person involved in athletics should know that the comment isn't meant as disrespectful but the intent is they are JV for a reason and if they wrestle up the Varsity should be able to handle them due to experience, fundamentals, etc. Don't make it more than it really is

"We wrestled hard, but you have to stay off your back. They had some junior varsity guys in there and you have to take advantage of that."......sounds a little disrespectful to the JV kids dont ya think? South has a very good JV team so you shouldnt assume to get an easy win. PHS #1 ranked kid in state Trapper Hays came VERY close to losing against a "JV" kid.
