This was Newell's awkward way of giving those who dare disagree with him the finger. Hopefully the new members of council will be able to make decisions on their own based on what is really best for parkersburg. Saying "NO" to Newell when he is wrong is not a sign of weakness but a sign of doing what is right, something the "User Fee Five" didn't have the backbone to do.

Hey Mayor Newell - What about the "silent minority" who have no voice in the election process? You know, the ones who work in your city, live outside your city, but pay your User Fee?

Amen, Diablo. The upcoming lawsuits, and the ones not yet filed will be more than enough to end this run of his. The silence will finally be broken and ALL of Parkersburg will see the evidence of the past 7 years. Soon........

Parkersburg is being left behind because few leaders and many citizens have no vision for the future. Too many old cranky people who will never be happy with any one or anything. Most of the young adults have to move away because there is nothing in Parkersburg for them...Change happens, but I guess not in Parkersburg.

For those of you unhappy with the progressive Mayor Newell, you can get happy again by getting the*****out of Parkersburg, and go elsewhere where the leader can appease your insatiable needs.

Guy007 - You may wish to check with Newell asking those who disagree with him to leave town. He relies on his so called "silent minority" to pay his user fee. As the town continues to go down hill around him, there will always be plenty of room for everyone.

Didn't people decide what can happen in November and they stuck with Newell ? Either Tallman is the worst of the worst or Newell is making strides and it is being observed by the community.

Which one is it ?

This guy they call Mayor sure has a bad attitude towards others and sure does not seem like he respects anyone with an opinion that is different than his. From what I have seen of this turkey, he likes to spend tax money pretty foolishly

Good times ahead for Parkersburg does that mean he is resigning and leaving the area. Wishful thinking. Vocal minority only because we do not agree with him. Newell is the worst thing that has happened to Parkersburg in a long time.

Dear God! The Dudes who are arguing w/each other...get a room!!!! And for the "generalizing" person who commented negatively about Republican/Tea Party members...umm, if Mayor

Newell was re-elected, it was also with the help of people like me and my wife and friends.Yes, Conservative Republicans! I happen to think that Mayor Newell has been one of the great Mayors, as all one has to do is look around and see all the changes; positive changes. It's interesting to read people's griping, moaning, and groaning, but lack of ANY viable challenging ideas. Actually, it's rather sad, and is what has kept this city from ANY substantial growth and change for DECADES! Complain about no growth, but complain about any growth. It's rather schizophrenic. I for one am excited about possible growth, and new business, bringing in more people. And folks, PLEASE STOP complaining about the user fee! I pay it too, and have no problems with it. Most cities have a user fees.
