Like it or not, DUI's are apart of our culture. Just like any other crime, the punishment must equal the crime. I like how the News and Sentinel has been posting DUI information as it must be embarrassing for the guilty party. Those who do not think penalties are severe enough for drunk drivers must be unfamiliar with the financial consequences that are attached with a DUI.

If you really think about it, the concept of bars is a puzzling one. It's an establishment you must drive to to consume alcohol and drive home from. I'm a beer drinker, so I'm not slandering bars, but individuals driving under the influence of alcohol will never go away. For as many DUI's as we see, that's only a small fraction that are getting caught. You don't have to be staggering drunk to fail a sobriety test. Unless vehicle manufacturers one day decide to put breathilizers in every vehicle, (never gonna happen) then there will always be drivers under the influence.
