Cuyahoga corruption probe turns to suburban court

CLEVELAND (AP) — A federal investigation of alleged public corruption in Ohio’s most populous county has turned to a suburban Cleveland traffic court.

Prosecutors have asked Berea Municipal Court for any correspondence since Jan. 1 from a former Parma school board member and a current member who also holds a top county job. The subpoena was reported Thursday by The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, which obtained a copy.

Court Clerk Ray Wohl said investigators asked him whether there had been any attempt by the two to influence the court. Wohl said a quick check showed no correspondence involving the two.

No one has been charged. The probe was disclosed July 28 when the FBI raided the offices of county Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and county Auditor Frank Russo. Both have denied wrongdoing.
