Talent, desire a must
When the life of a high school student-athlete ends and college is on the horizon, there’s a chance the athlete part might go by the wayside as they settle into the next chapter of their life as a student.
However, for those who are lucky enough to have the necessary skills to play on the next level, they will continue to carry the tag of student-athlete.
Parkersburg South volleyball player Jaimee Wittman is one such person.
It’s hard to believe it was nearly three years ago when I first remember seeing the sophomore Wittman on the floor at the Rod Oldham Athletic Center.
Although I’m not a college recruiter, I can generally size up talent when I see it and I always figured Wittman had a pretty good shot of at least playing Division II volleyball if she wanted to when her days in high school were over.
