Seven area teams remain unbeaten
PARKERSBURG — The list of unbeaten prep football teams in the Mid-Ohio Valley is quickly dwindling. Head coach Mike DeVol and the Redskins from Caldwell are the lone team from Ohio sporting a 3-0 mark after dropping Barnesville 35-12, while in the Mountain State six squads — Williamstown, Ravenswood, St. Marys, Wahama, Calhoun County and Paden City — remain perfect through the first two weeks. Williamstown used a 31-yard field goal from Joe Palm with nine seconds left in the game to upend host Magnolia, 25-22. The Blue Eagles turned the ball over four times and ‘Jacket backs Cameron Powell and Matt Hendrickson combined for 166 yards rushing on 35 carries. The ground game was key for Ravenswood as the Red Devils turned a 6-0 deficit into a 35-6 blowout. Quarterback Cole Starcher, who was 6-of-9 passing for 118 yards, rushed for 164 yards and added two touchdown runs along with a 12-yard scoring strike to Jonas Jelich.
