| | Retiring soonNovember 2, 2011 - Jay BennettPlaying the lottery is usually a losing proposition. However, the good news is I can help a lot of people and semi-retire soon if our pool here at work receives a miracle and we hit the Powerball jackpot. Figuring I still will be working when someone else several states away claims the $200-plus million buck jackpot, I'm going back to concentrating on volleyball. Ballots are starting to float in for the all-state squads and as all-state volleyball chairperson, I'm glad to see coaches and even some writers aren't waiting until next week's deadline to rush them in all at once. I've watched volleyball for a long time and still come to the conclusion one just never knows. I was sitting beside Williamstown fan Doug Kiger the other night when the Yellowjackets played Wirt County in sectional volleyball action. He told me you know it's going to go five games. Why? Simply because they can. Of course, they did. Now, we await Thursday's sectional Class A action back at Parkersburg Catholic to see if the host Crusaderettes can oust Wirt County from the postseason. If not, the Tigers then will take on Williamstown and must defeat the Yellowjackets twice to claim the sectional crown. Williamstown could make it easy on everyone and win the first championship match, making it a short night. However, if it ends up being the Tigers and Yellowjackets, I got a feeling the PCHS concession stand is going to be busy for most of the evening. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
