Spooky Titles for Halloween
October 24, 2011 - Amy Phelps
Everyone thinks their boss is evil. But what if they really are? That's the story behind "Devilishly Hot" by USA Today bestselling author Kathy Love.
Annie thinks she's landed her dream job working for a fashion magazine, HOT!, for the editor herself, Finola. But soon she finds out not only is Finola overbearing and tempermental, she's always taken the souls of every single one of her previous assistants and Annie's is next on the menu if she doesn't perform well for the next seven years. You see, Finola is an actual devil, and she's after souls. She's also after Detective Nick Rossi, the ultra hot officer the disappearance of her former assistants. She wants Annie to figure out what he likes so she can have him, but there's one complication - Annie wants him for herself? Can Annie get the guy of her dreams and come out with her soul still intact?
A bit like "The Devil Wears Prada" but with a real devil involved, this is a funny romantic paranormal story full of glamour and danger. "Devilishly Hot" is published by Kensington. It is $9.95.
New York Times bestselling author Keri Arthur starts a new story set in the world of her Riley Jenson series with "Darkness Unbound."
Risa Jones, a half werewolf/half Aedh, can see reapers, those spirits sent to collect souls of the dead. Her mother, a famous psyhic, asks her to check on one of her client's young daughters, and Risa finds that someone or something has taken her soul before its time - effectively stealing souls.
Meanwhile, Risa learns from one of the reapers that her unknown father, a Aedh, is supposedly tampering with supernatural things he shouldn't be and she is being shadowed in case he reaches out to her. What does this have to do with her missing souls case? As Risa investigates further, she finds the danger around her increasing, and it may not just be herself that is in the crosshairs, but those she loves...
This is a great start to a new series of mystery and danger with a paranormal twist for fans. I enjoyed the dark mystery involved.
"Darkness Unbound" is published by Dell. It is $7.99 and 383 pages long.
