New website ushers in race week

The News and Sentinel Half Marathon is just one week way. It is a year-round effort to make the race the best event possible. Today that meant making a major upgrade to the website that serves as the online home for the News and Sentinel Races. As of today, there were 1,325 people were registered for the races that also include the Two-Mile Race, Junior Races and Tiny Tot Trot.

NewsandSentinelHalfMarathon.com offers racers much of the same advance functions that are available on both NewsandSentinel.com and MariettaTimes.com.

This includes:

Forums – Racers are free to poise questions and respond to those left by others in the racer’s forums that are on the site.
Polls – We can post a variety of poll questions on the site. For example, the one on the site now ask how many half marathons you have taken part in.
Stories – Stories that are written for the newspapers are also included on the site.
Results – The results of races are included on the site back to 2007.
Registration – The site offers a variety of ways to sign up for the Half Marathon, Two-Mile, Junior Races and Tiny Tot Trot.
Blogs – Racing specific blogs are an integral part of the site.

The site is much more flexible than the site it replaced, allowing for more information to be posted with articles — including videos and breakout information — which will allow us to post a greater variety of materials both before and after the races.
