Two More Paranormal Tales

May 23, 2011 - Amy Phelps
Here's two more paranormal tales to chill your bones!

A detective who investigates cases of the paranormal gets more than she bargained for in "Gods & Monsters" by Lyn Benedict.

Sylvie thinks her latest case is just a run-of-the-mill serial killer (as if that is run-of-the-mill.) That is, until the bodies discovered at the dump site by police rise up and shapeshift into bears and wolves! Considering the murdered women weren't shapeshifters to begin with, Sylvie believes it is the work of a dangerous sorcerer. Considering the last person who helped Sylvie ended up in the hospital, she's reluctant to ask anyone for help, but she needs the help of Wales, a necromancer, someone who can be just as dangerous. Even with the blood of Lilith running through her veins, Sylvie's latest case is so dangerous, will she survive, or come back as an undead tool for a killer?

This is a good, suspenseful paranormal book that gives the usual private investigator storyline a dark magic twist. Fans of Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden series should look to this one.

"Gods & Monsters" is published by Ace. It is $7.99 and 311 pages long.

Another private investigator, this time a sidhe who isn't so magical, stumbles upon a dangerous case in "The Cold Kiss of Death" by Suzanne McLeod.

Genny has her job at Spellcrackers to keep her busy and hopefully keep her mind off the fact that alot of local witches don't like her very much because of her affiliation with a vampire. But she keeps getting bothered by a strange ghost who can't seem to find a way to communicate with her. Genny begins to wonder if the ghost is the victim of some sort of bizarre ritual, but then her best friend is murdered, and Genny is on the short list of suspects. And while Genny is trying to solve her friends murder and prove her innocence, she soon realizes that she is dealing with an otherworldly evil that could destroy everything she holds dear.

This is a dark story full of mystery and things that go bump in the night. Fans of the darker paranormal series will love this one.

"The Cold Kiss of Death" is published by Ace. It is $7.99 and 324 pages long.
