It's your internet

POSTED:Sat, January 12, 2008 @ 4:49AM

CU is a GIANT photo album

A few weeks ago I challenged everyone to put the shinny new cameras they got for Christmas to work by uploading photos to CU, our community photo gallery.

Today I'm going to share some of the numbers that make the photo site important to people living in the valley.

CU, which we started in March, is a large collection of photos of community people, places and events. How large? Really large.

46,379 to be exact. That's a lot of photos. The photos, I think I can safely say, form the largest collection of photos of the Parkersburg-Marietta area available on the planet. Think of it. If CU was a book with six photos on a page the book would be more than 7,000 pages thick. That's a mighty big book and it is one that is still growing. In a typical month, around 5,000 photos are added to the site.

The other numbers associated with CU are large as well. More than 250 people have uploaded photos to the site. Photos from the public currently make up a little bit more than half of the 1,400 galleries on the site.

Everyone likes to look at photos. So far the photos in our huge album have been viewed more than 3.3 million times

Join the party. Just click on the CU link and start uploading photos. You can then let your neighbors, friends and family know that they can See You on CU.
