Some errors not funny!

November 29, 2010 - Jim Smith
Ouch, followed by an expletive deleted was my response when I saw Monday's News and Sentinel and realized, to my chagrin, it actually wasn't Wednesday, as it stated on the top of the front page.

Fortunately, the guys in the press room noticed the error as they were printing the newspaper and it was changed for most of the press run ... but several hundred "Wednesday" papers got out the door before the new page was plated and put on the press.

It wasn't exactly the way I wanted to start a Monday morning after having a Thanksgiving break with my family when I entered the office, hadn't taken off my coat nor unlocked my office before I was confronted by the production manager pointing out the front page error.

Of course the paginator and the weekend editor who electronically put together the page and who proofed the page weren't overjoyed when I pointed out their error, asking them what day it was and why the weekend editor was at work since he's scheduled off duty on Wednesdays.

Some errors might be considered funny, but putting the wrong day on the top of the front page is not one of them.
