| | Merry ChristmasDecember 22, 2009 - Jim SmithThis probably will get me in trouble ... again! For years my wife and I would put up outdoor Christmas decorations, usually on what seemed to be the coldest day of the year and then take them down in January ... again on a frigid day. And, every year my wife would point out that having Christmas lights outside the house and not lighted was a sure sign for burglars that no one was home since we don't trust outdoor timers. So this year we didn't put up any outdoor lights. We just put up a small Christmas tree and several other decorations around the house and in the family room. In fact, we didn't even put up the Christmas village that has grown by one nearly every year since our daughter was old enough to paint the plaster structures. Heck, we even sent them to here when she was away in college for her to paint and return for Christmas. Ah, the good old days. Does this mean we are losing the Christmas spirit or just getting lazy? I don't have a good answer, but I do know the concept of Christmas shopping and getting presents just doesn't have the appeal it once had. Maybe we're just too set in our ways and toooooo boring. Nevertheless, though, Merry Christmas to all! Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
