CU targets your neighborhood

CU targets your neighborhood

Since launching in 2008, CU, our popular photo-sharing site has been a popular destination for people looking to view photos from the Mid-Ohio Valley. The site quickly became the world’s largest collection of photos from the area. Currently users will find more than 100,000 photos on the site.

With so many photos on the site it can at times be difficult to find what you are looking for. The redesign the site went through a few months ago makes it easier to find, and for photographers to post, photos that represented a particular geographic area.

Directly on the home page of the new site users will find a link to “Areas.”  That section of the site is broken into the communities we call home. From Barlow to Williamstown, more than 1,000 photos have already been tagged so they will appear under the correct communities. Photos that staffers upload, as well as though uploaded by the public can all be tagged so that they appear under the community in which they were taken.

Community profile pages on the site now feature links that will take you directly into the CU section for that community.

We are in the process of adding some galleries to the site to showcase the landmarks of the different towns, villages and communities in our area. These galleries should compliment the thousands of photos on the site of people and events through out the area.

The “Areas” addition to CU will make it easer to find what you are looking for on CU. Because CU is both staff and reader generated, it’s easy for anyone to add photos to the site of things important to their area. If you got photos of a community that is not listed, just let me know, I’ll be glad to add it.
