| | My Husband's Sweethearts by Bridget AsherMay 26, 2009 - Amy PhelpsA woman confronts her husband's past and finds some new friends in Bridget Asher's "My Husband's Sweethearts," now in paperback. When Lucy Shoreman found out her much older husband was cheating, she left. Now she's learned that he is dying, and after receiving multiple bunches of flowers from him, she gives in to her mother's suggestions and comes back home. But Lucy doesn't see why, as the wife, she should bear the brunt of watching the man she loved die. She decides to call up his "sweethearts" and make them take their turn at his bedside. At first only artist Elspa comes, and then the angry Eleanor. But with Eleanor's organizational skills, soon more and more of the women are showing up. When Lucy finds out her husband had a son from one of those previous relationships, John, who is around her own age, she tries to get him to come and visit, only to find herself being charmed by him! Along the way, Lucy begins to bond with Eleanor and Elspa, develop feelings for John, and finds a new circle of friends and family in the wake of the tragedy. An interesting book full of fun characters, this one is a quick page turner that is a bit different than most women's fiction. "My Husband's Sweethearts" is published by Bantam Books. It is $14 and 271 pages long. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
