Fixed income? Baaaah!

Fixed income.
Oh how I LOATHE that term.
I can't tell you how many times I have cringed and bit my lip when some retiree mentions they are living on a fixed income.
I got news for ya ... I too am on a fixed income.
In fact, most people I know are on a fixed income.
Do these people know what a fixed income actually is? To me, it is regulated income a person receives at the end of each pay period.
Just like the retirees, my income is fixed. My check is the same every two weeks. So is my wife's.
I would argue retirees have a less fixed income than I do. Being retired and collecting social security and retirement benefits, they could still go out and work part-time.. thereby adjusting the so-called fixed income.
