New Facebook application adds options to your profile
February 26, 2009 - Art Smith
The Parkersburg News and Sentinel and The Marietta Times launched an interesting new “site” this week. We can now be found on Facebook.
Facebook, the popular social networking site, recently open the site up so that independent organizations could add applications to the site.
We added a new application to the site earlier this week to make it easier for people to find out what is going on in the area.
Facebook has 150,000,000 registered users worldwide. The site is built around the idea that people want to stay informed about what their friends are up to. The information appears in the form of a news feed.
The site was first developed by a college student to help him stay better connected with his classmates. The site now is open to everyone with the largest growth area being aging baby boomer.
Many people check their page several times a day to see what is up with their friends. Our new application makes it easy for people to take a look at the headlines at the same time.
Clicking on any of the headlines will take a user to that story on our Web Site. Voting on a poll on the site will not only add vote to the total on our site, it will also allow you to see how your friends voted on Facebook.
The site also has a reader forum as well as a wall on which you can write comments.
It’s easy to add the application to your profile. Just click on the link and you will be on your way to knowing what is going on not only with your friends, but with the rest of the world as well.
