And ... we're back

January 20, 2009 - Jody Murphy
Sorry I've been off so long. Not that anyone other than my mom (Hi Mom!) and a few folks in the office read this.
I'd like to say I've been busy, but that ain't true.
I'd also like to say I've been short on opinions, but that ain't true either.
Truth is, I have felt like I was wasting my time on here.
Posting stuff that nobody reads. Of course that's pretty much 98 percent of the non-porn Internet.
At any rate, I'm back to blogging ...
Saw President Obama's inauguration this morning.
Maybe it's the blossoming curmudgeon (I love that word!) in me, but I was not awe-struck by the moment.
That's not to be construed as any insult toward our new leader. Far from it.
I just think this country has a long way to go before life gets any better.
Six months from now we are going to be worse off than we are today. Book it.
The country has a ton of problems (what else is new?) and Obama is encouraging us to roll up our sleeves and get to work (again, what else is new?).
That is really the point.
There is NOTHING new here. The message is the same one presidents have been delivering since George Washington - save President Dwight D. Eisenhower who basically told America to take four years off and play golf.
While I admire Obama and hope he can deliver on at least some of his promises, he is only one man in a VAST machine.
I have a litany of concerns, which would take an infinite amount of space here and bore most of you to tears.
Suffice to say ... We shall see.
