Mancini's Commentaries
POSTED:Tue, July 29, 2008 @ 7:34AM
Call a spade a spadeI support the city of Parkersburg joining with the West Virginia Army National Guard to develop a new armory that would also function as a ``convention and events center.' My argument involves semantics and that the officials involved appear to be purposely avoiding calling the facility a ``civic center. ``Civic center' apparently has a negative meaning around, so terms like arena, convention center or events center are used. There's nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. Civic center is less words and I believe fully and accurately describes the project.
