Methods of Distraction
POSTED:Fri, July 11, 2008 @ 9:18AM
Ummm... Are we sure this is a good idea?It has come to my attention that a large number of musicians and musical acts are very excited about the New Kids On the Block reuniting and touring this fall.Several news agencies have reported 80s has-beens New Edition (without Bobby Brown) have contacted the Kids - whose youngest member is in his mid 30s - in hopes of reliving decades old glory. And, this morning, Michael Jackson has become the latest to want to join the Kids. That's right, the former superstar (and plastic surgeon addict, among other things) allegedly wants to collaborate with the aging teeny bopper group. It's been said Jackson has held secret meetings with the band. Does anyone else think this sounds like one heck of a media ploy? I mean, I love Michael's work as much as the next child of the 80s (I contend "Thriller" is one of the best albums ever made), but isn't this a bit much? What is NKOTB going to do? A cover of "Billie Jean"? If this does come to fruition, what do fans want to sea/hear? (On a side note, I know a lot of this blog has been related to New Kids On the Block, but as I previously mentioned, I was a grade schooler when the band was "cool" and that means I have a lot of memories related to their music. It's almost unfortunate.)
