Books of Summer

POSTED:Mon, July 7, 2008 @ 3:20PM

The Other Boy by Hailey Abbott

June is the official start of summer, so I'm kicking off the season with a new book a week that you should be sticking in a beach bag to take on vacation, or just relaxing with in the backyard along with a glass of sweet tea.

This week's is a teen romance offering. Be sure to check back every Monday for a new book for adults or teenagers!

A summer away from home gives a teen a new look on life and love in "The Other Boy" by Hailey Abbott.

Maddy Sinclaire was looking forward to a summer free from her parents and sleeping until noon and then hanging out with her best friends at the beach and her boyfriend. When she throws a blowout party the moment her parents leave, she is caught when they come back home for something. Maddy finds herself in hot water and now spending the summer working on her parents' vineyard in Napa Valley.

Maddy isn't the only teen indentured to be there. Her parents' partner's son, David, is also spending the summer working there and they are being teamed up with the responsibilities. Maddy and David get off to a bad start, and while Maddy thinks David is a hick, David thinks sheƔs just a spoiled city girl.

But as the two bond over back-breaking work, they find they do have something in common after all - a mutual attraction. But as the summer draws to a close, what will happen to their newfound relationship?

This is a sweet summer romance, perfect for the beach or lounging by the pool. "The Other Boy" is published by HarperTeen. It is $8.99 and 260 pages long.
