Keeping good recordsAfter about 350 years, Prince Charles, heir apparent to the English crown, has proven that businesses should keep good records for a reason.Worcester Clothiers Company has finally collected on a bill to Prince Charles II made before a war in Worcester to battle for the crown of England. After losing the battle, Charles II ran for the French hills, leaving his unpaid bill behind. Charlie II was asked to take the English throne in 1660, but he failed to pay his clothing bill (it paid for uniforms for his army). Thanks to excellent record keeping, the company has been trying to collect the money for the current family for about 15 years. A couple of weeks ago, the current Bonnie Prince Charlie paid 453 pounds and 3 shillings - about $900 U.S. - to Worcester Clothiers Company. He refused to pay the interest on the bill (something around $150,000 I believe) but the company seems to be happy to have the debt removed. It just shows that a good record keeper is worth their weight in gold– or at least 453 pounds.
