Mancini's Commentaries

POSTED:Wed, June 18, 2008 @ 10:08AM

Not on my dime

I support the Wood County Commission's efforts to encourage employees to car pool or use public transportation to save fuel costs. However, I oppose Easy Rider providing bus service outside the cities of Parkersburg and Vienna, other than a non-stop bus to West Virginia University at Parkersburg, where property owners pay a levy to finance the bus system. I'm against my taxes from the bus levy subsidizing service for non-residents who don't pay taxes to support the system. If the county or Williamstown wants Easy Rider, pass a levy and pay your share to support the bus system. Otherwise, walk, ride a bicycle, buy a car or call a taxi.
