Book Nook

POSTED:Mon, June 16, 2008 @ 10:20AM

The Murder Notebook

June is the official start of summer, so I'm kicking off the season with a new book a week that you should be sticking in a beach bag to take on vacation, or just relaxing with in the backyard along with a glass of sweet tea.

This week's is a mystery/thriller offering. Be sure to check back every Monday for a new book for adults, and every other Thursday for a new book for kids or teenagers!

A forensic sketch artist attempts to solve a baffling string of murders and suicides in "The Murder Notebook" by Jonathan Santlofer.

Nate Rodriguez just begins trying to reconstruct a face of an unidentified and burned body by using the skull and modeling clay when he gets called to do some sketches for the NYPD. A rash of unrelated murders are hitting New York, and the killers are unstable people who usually kill themselves right after the murder. What is driving these men to commit murder? And what do they all have in common? As Nate and the NYPD unravel the string of clues, they find a secret organization and dark experiments might have something to do with it all. An interesting take for the CSI and Law & Order fans, this police procedual mystery is sure to find its own brand of fans.

"The Murder Notebook" is published by William Morrow. It is $24.95 and 386 pages long.
