time value calculator

Wondering around on MSN money, I came across the interesting title of Time Value Calculator (link provided).

Often I have said "my free time is worth more than that." This seemed like a great way to test the saying.

I input my salary, hours of work a week, travel time, number of house I sleep and extra purchases I make for work related reasons.

At the end of the survey - a couple of minutes- I discovered that my free time is worth about $5 an hour. And weekly, the calculator determined I have about 60 hours of free time.

Their recommendation, if I can pay someone to do the work for less than what my hour is worth, then I should be willing to pay them.

With $5 an hour, I guess it's a good thing I do most things for myself. And in an effort to increase my "hourly" worth, I'm going to try to eat out less often. After all, it's not that hard to pack a lunch.

Oh, and as a side note, gasoline is down to $3.97. It was very exciting to see. I wonder how long that will last?
