Why not recycle?

Earth Day is the prime time to begin recycling. Many communities in the Mid-Ohio Valley offer recycling programs that are easy and free for residents to utilize. In Parkersburg there are green recycling tubs available, which are picked up with the weekly trash collection. Unlike many communities where I've lived, Parkersburg doesn't even make you separate your recycleables. You can throw recycleable cans, plastics, newspapers, cardboard, etc all in the green tub and the city crews take care of it from there. My wife chews me out when I forget and put a plastic shampoo bottle (although if I lose much more hair I won't need shampoo) in the trash. She also reminds me to take the cap off the 2-liter plastic bottles of soda (I would say "pop" but it shows what part of the country I'm from, my daughter scolds me) I drink. I know we could do more for Earth Day, but recycling is so easy I don't understand why everyone doesn't do it.
