No, I'm the other Art Smith

April 5, 2008 - Art Smith
Have you ever Googled yourself?

Say What?

Someday when you are really board, fire up the insanely popular search engine
Google and type your name. Hit search and sit back and enjoy a few minutes of cheap entertainment.

I do this from time-to-time just to see what comes up.

Others do it when they are looking for jobs to see what others may find when they are searching for employment. It's a good idea, since many employers now routinely "Google" people before they hire them.

There have been a lot of people named  Art Smith through the years. Many have found their way into the search engine. Most are more popular than me and show up a lot earlier in the listing.

Let's see... there was Art Smith, Orphan Train Rider, who hit the rails in 1922.

Then there is the Art Smith that was an early pilot. There are some great photos of him that show up many pages before you will see anyone that looks like me. This Art Smith was a daring pilot and a bit of a film star around 1910. I'm not.

The main Art Smith you will find on Google is the Art Smith that is the chef for Oprah.

According to his Web site,  "Chef Art Smith creates delicious, healthy, fast and easy meals that bring families together." Wish I could cook like a pro, but it's not me either.

Near Palm Springs you find the Art Smith Trail, named after Art Smith the cowboy, not Art Smith the Webmaster.

If you do an Google Image search for Art Smith, you will find a photo of me, exactly 154 photos from the top of the list. At least I ended up higher than Art Smith, an Albany policeman from the 1970s.
