The exact time will be set in July, but the inaugural Mid-Ohio Valley Harmonica Championship will be held in the early afternoon of Sept. 20, 2008 at the Belleville Homecoming Grounds. It is about three hours from Cleveland and Pittsburgh. It is located on West Virginia 68 between Parkersburg and Ravenswood. Prizes: trophies for top players and an Elk River custom harmonica for the grand prize. Harmonica players can bring one person, such as a guitar player, to accompany them. After the contest is over, there will be a jam session that will hopefully last until everyone goes home.

Dave Payne![]() Staff Writer/outdoorsman Dave Payne Sr. grew up on the banks of the Elk River in a rural part of Kanawha County. He has been hunting and playing harmonica since he was five years old, mandolin since he was a teenager. Now, he is teaching his two children, Audrey 7 and David, 6 about the outdoors and music.
