Mancini's Commentaries

Group wants campaign finance reporting laws challengedA group which supports more limits on lawsuits and the damages a jury can award is trying to force Secretary of State Betty Ireland to challenge West Virginia's campaign finance disclosure laws. The Center for Individual Freedom says its supporters will pull their contributions if it's disclosed who they are and how much they gave. The provisions of the law the group wants challenged were enacted after the 2004 election when special interests went after West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Warren McGraw. Advertising is being developed by the center, but the pulled contributions would put the kabosh on its campaign. Tough tooties. Citizens should know from where the big money is coming in a political campaign and if the contributors don't want anyone to know, the simple solution is they can keep their money in their wallet.
