Mancini's Commentaries

POSTED:Tue, March 25, 2008 @ 7:27AM

Demo's right

I agree with Parkersburg City Councilman Demosthenes Dukas that the Riverfront Park at the Point deserves financial participation that goes beyond the borders of the city. "I'm against it due to the fact the park is not a city park; it is a park for the community," he said. "Money should have come from the community. But it is only city money that is being used." He makes a good point. The Wood County Commission should have coughed up a share of the local match required in the funding package for the project. I'm not sure that's justification for voting against the project, but Demo is right.
