Mancini's Commentaries
POSTED:Fri, March 21, 2008 @ 8:29AM
Unfair treatment from the countyParkersburg must not be part of Wood County, if I follow the county commission's logic. On Thursday, commissioners gave the 10 volunteer fire departments $5,000 each. Our Parkersburg Fire Department, the county's only paid unit, got nothing. Property taxes paid by Parkersburg residents also support county government and Parkersburg choosing to pay for a fire department is irrelevant when the county doles taxpayers' money to the other departments. This is an example of Parkersburg residents unfairly subsidizing county operations.
