It's your internet

A flood of wordsA floodgate opened a while back. No, not the ones that keep the Ohio River from flooding. When this floodgate opened it was a flood of words, not water. When we re-launched the NewsandSentinel.com Web site in December, we started allowing readers to leave comments on most stories on the site. Readers have responded by leaving comments. Lots of comments. HUNDREDS of comments. So far readers have left 1,121 comments on stories, blogs, and polls on the site. That doesn’t even count the ones that people are sure to leave on the bottom of this blog. That’s a large amount of comments left on an equally large numbers of stories. In the same time frame we have added 3,256 stories to the site. Comments on stories can added by any registered user of the site and allow readers to add reaction and context to news stories. Filters remove bad language from the comments and any registered user can report a comment that is abusive in nature. Comments are one of the many ways we are working to make the Web site more interactive for the reader. CU, our photo-sharing site that contains more than 40,000 photos, also allows readers to comment on photos. So the next time you read a story and you got something to say about it, start typing!
