House on Mermaid Point

July 14, 2014 - Amy Phelps
A group of friends renovate an aging rock star's beach house in "The House on Mermaid Point" by Wendy Wax.

As part of a renovation reality show, Maddie, Nicky, Avery, and Maddie's daughter Kyra and Avery's mother, Deirdre, have traveled to a small island on the Florida Keys, forced to stay on a small houseboat, and renovate rocker William the Wild Hightower's beach home, which has turned into his last home. Fresh out of rehab, William may have to turn his former hideaway into a B&B in order to stay afloat, but he needs the ladies' help first. And while he's horrified that it has come to this, he is also intrigued by Maddie.

Maddie used to have a crush on him, and as a newly single woman, she is definitely ready to mingle. By the time the reno is completed, hearts may be broken, relationships may be strained and a group of friends lives will be tested!

This is a great summer read of friendship, family and transformation. It begs to be read by the beach.

"The House on Mermaid Point" is published by Berkley. It is $15 and 388 pages long.
