A Catered Fourth of July
June 30, 2014 - Amy Phelps
A timely cozy mystery comes in Isis Crawford's "A Catered Fourth of July."
The small town of Longley, New York, is getting ready to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with a little Revolutionary War reenactment. Bernie and Libby, sisters and caterers, are setting up a feast and watching the "action" take place when they both realize that one of the participants isn't play-acting anymore - he seems to have actually been shot! Was it an accidental discharge with a musket, or something far more chilling? But when the prime suspect in Jack Devlin's death seems to be Bernie's boyfriend, Marvin, she is determined to prove his innocence by finding the real killer. But she quickly realizes Jack made more than a few enemies in the small town, and the list of suspects - and the danger - keeps increasing.
Just in time for the holiday, the pace cracks like fireworks and the twists keep coming! There's even some special holiday recipes to try.
"A Catered Fourth of July" is published by Kensington. It is $24 and 320 pages long.
