One more snow before winter's over?
March 26, 2013 - Jim Smith
My late father-in-law, a lifelong Central Ohio farmer, used to say there would be three more snowfalls after the forsythia bloomed and he had a giant bush in his backyard that we used to watch to see if he was right ... and, as I remember it, he usually was!
Well, the forsythia monster in our side yard began blooming a couple weeks ago when warm temperatures swept through the Mid-Ohio Valley, and it has snowed twice, to my recollection, since the brush began showing its yellow blooms.
Sunday night-Monday morning was the second snowfall, which, thankfully, wasn't that much of a problem in the Parkersburg area, although on the Ohio side of the river it apparently caused some school closings and in the West Virginia mountains it left inches of white stuff.
If my late father-in-law's adage is right, the next snowfall finally should get us around the corner and headed for the much-anticipated spring the calendar indicates should already be here.
I hope the adage is on target.
