"Edge of Dawn" by Lara Adrian
March 18, 2013 - Amy Phelps
New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian returns to her Midnight Breed series in "Edge of Dawn."
A mix of romantic suspense and paranormal romance, its been 20 years since First Dawn - when vampires came out and the humans waged war on them.Today, the two species struggle to coexist, and that's where the Order comes in, an elite group of warriors who try to keep the peace between both sides. Mira, a squad captain, isn't a vampire, but instead a Breedmate, a woman born of a human and...something else. She has psychic abilities because of her heritage, and must keep her eyes shielded or whoever looks into them will see their fate, as ugly as it may be. Mira is struggling because the love of her life, Kellan Archer, died in a human attack and she has never gotten over him.
Or did he really die? A high profile kidnapping leads the two of them back together. It turns out Kellan didn't die, but instead leads a band of human rebels intent on vigilante justice. It seems that Mira and Kellan are on opposite sides, which could mean death for both of them. But can the two fight the desire they still have for each other?
This is a juicy romantic suspense story with plenty of action, spicy hot romance and twists and turns. The vampire-thing is pretty much secondary to the story of two warriors fighting for their love and their lives.
"Edge of Dawn" is published by Delacorte Press. It is $25 and 273 pages long.
