Merry Christmas to all

Today I take a respite from normal discussion of issues affecting the Mid-Ohio Valley and pause to wish one and all, even those who don't agree with me often, a very Merry Christmas.

There are a tremendous number of people in the valley who go far beyond the call of good will and provide time, money, gifts and food for those less fortunate and/or in need of what so many of us sometimes take for granted.

The Salvation Army, Marines, police departments, sheriff's deputies, schools, civic clubs, social organizations and countless everyday citizens step up at this time of year to provide holiday cheer for thousands of people in the valley ... and they all deserve a hearty "well done" and "thanks" for their efforts.

In some respects, though, it's sad the same level of dedication to our fellow man is not carried out throughout the year by the same number of people who extend their goodwill during the holidays.
