Think twice before you do it!
March 14, 2012 - Jay Bennett
Oh, boy, am I going to miss basketball season.
But, at least March Madness is just now getting under way.
I am totally 100 percent excited to watch Pocahontas County play St. Marys on Thursday evening.
There's nothing better than watching teams chuck up 3-pointer after 3-pointer after 3-pointer...kind of like what the Glenville State College women's basketball team likes to do.
However, I truly find it hard to fathom that Pocahontas County is going to somehow come to Charleston and find a smooth shooting touch from outside. Keep in mind, the Warriors have fired up 680 trey attempts this season, having made basically a third of those they've put up.
Now, just for some entertainment value I decided to check on the opening day of the state tournament and the numbers are not going to be in favor of the No. 8 seeded Warriors when they take on top-ranked St. Marys in a Class A state quarterfinal.
That's because during the six games at Wednesday's state tournament, and we aren't talking about a slew of bad teams competing against one another either, they hit a not-so-hot 22.4 percent combined from downtown. In other words, the dozen teams at the state tournament only missed 142 of 183 attempts.
Hey, but keep shooting them because it's fun to watch.
