Get outside and get grilling with two cookbooks

Now is the time to get outside and get your grill heated up and do some outdoor cooking! And there are several new cookbooks available to get you started.

First is “Martha Stewart’s Grilling.” This book from the home maven includes more than 125 recipes for large and small gatherings that will keep your kitchen cool.

Stewart teaches home cooks the basics with some golden rules, a look at basic grills and fuels, shows how to light the grill, how to check for doneness – an instant read thermometer is your best bet to hit those temperatures, needed tools, how to clean the grill and special tips and techniques for each type of protein.

The recipes are divided into 6 chapters: At the Start, As a Main, Out of Hand, On a Platter, On the Side and At the End.

At the Start includes recipes for Kielbasa Bites with Potato Salad, Red-Curry Salmon Bites, Grilled Vegetable Antipasto and several drinks, like Bourbon Mint Tea, Lime Shandy and Sparkling Rose Sangria.

As a Main includes dishes such as Chicken with Green Chile Dressing, Peppercorn-Brined Pork Chops, Lamb Shoulder Chops with Herb Aioli and Sweet and Spicy Grilled Shrimp.

Out of Hand has sandwiches such as Steakhouse Burgers, Classic Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Bistro-Style Chicken Sandwiches, New England Fish Sandwiches and Chile-Rubbed Flank Steak Tacos.

On a Platter includes recipes for Chicken and Pea Salad with Dijon Vinaigrette, Citruc-Chile Turkey Breast, Honey-Glazed Pork Tenderloin with Grilled Apricots, Salmon Salad with Sugar Snap Peas, Eggs and Potatoes and Soba Salad with Grilled Eggplant and Tomato.

On the Side offers side dishes such as Watermelon, Orange and Feta Salad, Peach Panzanella, Baby Bok Choy Slaw and Grilled Ratatouille and Bulgur Salad.

At the End includes desserts such as Iced Cocoa Pops, Brownie Sundae Ice-Cream Cake, Grilled Pound Cake with Seasonal Fruit and Summer-Fruit Cream Pie.

There is a lot to choose from in this helpful cookbook from the popular entertainer.

From master griller and best-selling author Jamie Purviance with the experts at Weber comes “Weber’s Ultimate Grilling.”

The cookbook includes more than 750 color photographs to give you a step-by-step guide to grilling more than 100 recipes.

The book kicks things off with the Four Ts: Temperature, Time, Techniques and Tools, with explanations of each before getting into the 7 chapters of recipes: Starters, Beef and Lamb, Pork, Poultry, Seafood, Vegetables and Sides and Desserts.

In Starters, recipes include Maple-Bourbon Chicken Wings, Ground Lamb Kefta with Yogurt Sauce and Bruschetta with Marinated Peppers.

Beef and Lamb includes Griddle-Smashed Burgers with Special Sauce, Charred Rib-Eye Steaks with Mushrooms, Lamb Rib Chops with North African Spices and more.

The Pork chapter has Southwestern Sausage Sandwiches, Fennel and Garlic Pork Chops, Spicy Pork Tenderloin with Ginger Sauce and more.

Poultry includes dishes for Chicken Breasts with Green Herb Salsa, Tuesday Night Marinated Chicken Thighs, Golden Roasted Chicken with Buttery Broth and more.
