Art show winners named

Chloe Bidwell’s art project was named Best of Show at Fort Frye High School’s annual art show held Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. Other students receiving awards for first, second, and third place in each category were:

GOLF CLINIC PLANNED

It’s that time of year again — junior golf clinic time! Fort Frye’s golf clinic will be held June 10-15 for students 6years old to 18 years old. The cost of the clinic is $100 which includes four days of gold instruction, a shirt, and a pizza lunch the last day of the clinic. Visit the Clubhouse os fill out a sign-up sheet. SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM BEGINNING

The 2019 Summer Feeding Program for children ages 1-18 begins this Wednesday, June 5, at Dodge Park in Beverly. Lunch is served daily at 12 noon. Meals must be reserved each day by calling 740-373-3455 for those living in Washington County. Weekend meal packs are also available, only by reservation, every Friday. Parents must complete a short application before children can receive the weekend meal packs. The child must be present to receive the packed meals.

The Summer Food Program for Children is available to all children, all it takes is a simple phone call to reserve each day’s meals. Please take advantage of this important summer program.

Lowell’s site, held at the Lowell United Methodist Church, opens June 6. The Morgan County Site, held at the Morgan Metro Housing Authority, opens June 11.

SUMMER READING BEGINS

The Beverly Library’s Summer Reading Program — Universal Stories — begins tomorrow, June 3, and registration opens tomorrow as well. June 3 and 4, Lap Time for children ages 0-2 will talk about astronauts at 6:30 Wednesday evening or 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Read-to-Me Club kicks off with Story time Tuesday, June 4 at 6:30 or Wednesday at 11 a.m. with an astronaut program as well. A Family Movie Matinee is scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. with a family movie and snacks. Thursday, June 6, the Summer Reader’s Club kicks off with Space Activities at 11 a.m. and this week’s activity is Space Travel. A special ‘Mystery Guest’ is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, June 7. Also kicking off this week is the Summer Reading Challenge for children ages 6-11. They will need to read 200 minutes by July 13. Readers ages 12 and over are invited to the Saturday programs. June 8 at 11 a.m., come to beat the Saber VR Challenge! The Teen Reading Challenge is for anyone in grades 6-12 and must keep a reading log of a total of 10 hours of summer reading. Rounding out the summer challenges is the summer reading for those 18 years and older. Twenty hours or reading are required to be logged to receive your summer prize. Adults are invited to participate in the June ‘Staff Picks’ reading program. June’s pick is ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
