Brand awareness seminar a success

What is your business’ brand? Most people think that your logo is your brand, however, participants that attended our Brand Awareness Training this past week learned that’s not completely true.

Last fall, Downtown PKB applied for and received a grant through BB&T’s Community Development Department to conduct a training targeted specifically to our downtown small business owners. The goal of the training was brand awareness and how understanding your brand can help to grow your business. At the conclusion of the training, participants received a mini grant good for a one hour customized brand review of their business, courtesy of Abigail Spung, principal and chief creative officer for Clayman & Associates.

This training program helped our participating business owners understand more about themselves, their business, and perception about their product or services and how to connect the dots to maintain their brand integrity. Participants learned valuable terminology about their brand identity, the function of their brand and how many things can affect their brand.

Our ultimate goal is for our participants to take what they learned during the training, coupled with their customized brand review of their individual business and increase their foot traffic and sales.

At the conclusion of the training program, participants made suggestions for future training topics to help them grow their business and those suggestions will be taken back to our Downtown Development Committee and reviewed at our next meeting. Our Downtown Development Committee, is chaired by Lindsey Piersol, executive director of Wood County Economic Development. This committee focuses on capital, incentives and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs.

Downtown PKB, a Main Street Community, was developed to spearhead the revitalization of the City’s downtown area. Downtown PKB would like to take this time to thank Marlo Long with BB&T Bank’s Community Development Department for awarding us the grant to help grow our businesses in downtown Parkersburg.
