Downtown PKB launches into new year
The New Year is upon us and Courtney and I have bundled up to embrace the bitter cold temperatures, icy roads and snow storms to begin our 2018 event planning. During this time of the year, our office is busy looking ahead to plan for the warmer weather months when our biggest events take place. Yes, our Point Park Concert Series and the Taste of Parkersburg preparations are well under way to bring our community great entertainment and food tastings they have come to look forward to every year. We have also been busy updating our website, planning our social media and advertising calendars and working on important organizational events like our board of directors retreat and our annual meeting planned for February.
Although the weather has been unfavorable, we have taken this opportunity to push ahead with projects that we have been working on over the past year. You may have noticed as you ventured out over the past week in downtown our two new gateway banners are up, one located on the side of Chapman Printing Company and the other located on the backside of the old Citizen Bank Building, corner of Fourth and Market streets.
Gateway banners are an important part of downtown revitalization. They serve not only as a way to brand our downtown district but also help to improve the aesthetic appearance of downtown. They are also an important element for towns and cities to promote downtown not only to our residents but also to tourists that are visiting our area and communicate that revitalization is taking place here.
Just last week during the ribbon cutting for our new downtown Sheetz, the regional manager from Sheetz commented that she noticed there was a revitalization program going on by some of the things she saw when driving through downtown. Downtown PKB would like to personally thank Mike Bosley and the crew that braved the elements to install our banners last week.
As we begin to thaw out and work on plans for all the great things we have in store, I invite any interested business looking for an opportunity to get in front of our audiences at one of our events to consider sponsorship opportunities. Feel free to visit our website to check out our calendar of events and click on the link to sponsor an event: https://www.downtownpkb.com/sponsor or contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
Be sure to watch for great things coming this year for Downtown PKB!
Wendy L. Shriver is the executive director for Downtown PKB.
